SINGLE BARREL TRAP GUN. Cal. 12 Ga. 2 3/4". S# 6943 (1932). This unusual gun built on a modified O/U action has 32" demi bloc bbl. Extensive machining of breech end leaves heavy octagonal bottom section covered by wood of forend. Bbls. are fitted with slightly raised ventilated rib by "Simmons" with 2 white beads. Top left side of bbl. is engraved "James Woodward & Sons. 64 St James's Street. London England". Bottom is stamped with London nitro proofs for 2 3/4" chamber. Serial number is on bottom of lump. Casehardened top lever action is of low profile but uses a standard hinge pin. Action is engraved with 80% coverage Woodward house style rose and scroll. "J. Woodward & Sons" is in classic Woodward parchment scroll device on front of each lockplate. Trigger guard and top lever are blued, and engraved with matching scroll and roses; serial number is engraved on trigger guard tang. Replacement steel capped pistol grip buttstock of crotch figured American walnut measures 14 3/4" over brown leather covered pad over tapered 1" to 1 3/8" extension. Stock has 1/2" Monte Carlo, point pattern checkering at grip and a vacant silver oval on toe line. One piece, long beavertail ejector forend appears to be original and has shaped horn extension to Anson release button housing. MEASUREMENTS: BBL.: Bore Diameter: .734". Restriction: .039" (EXTRA FULL). Minimum Wall Thickness: .028". STOCK: DAH: 2 1/2". DAC: 1 7/16" (rear of Monte Carlo). 1 13/16". CAST: neutral. LOP: 14 3/4". WEIGHT: 8 lbs. 8 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: gun is housed in plastic "ADG Sports" hard case with foam lining. CONDITION: very good as partially refurbished. Bbl. retaining nearly all of a best reblack. Action and lockplates retain most of their original casehardening color which was never vivid. Newer buttstock retains most of its original finish with some light marks. Checkering is slightly worn. What appears to be original forend is most likely refinished and has a few dings; checkering somewhat worn especially on right side. Bore is bright and shiny. Action is tight. Ejector is strong.
