TEST TRIAL LUGER SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 30 Luger. S# 6153. Bbl. 4 3/4". Highly desirable and attractive DWM Model 1900 American Eagle Luger, as submitted to the U.S. military in the S# range of 6100-7100, per reports by Kenyon, Costanzo, and Reese. Usual drift adj. front sight and V-notch rear sight. American Eagle over chamber, with intertwined "DWM" on forward toggle link. Flat top breechblock. Toggle with dished ears and anti-rebound lock. Full S# on forward frame, repeated under bbl., last 2-digits on all the usual small parts including the grip safety and each of the grips. Takedown lever marked on right side, as true for all the test trial pistols; the safety having small checkered head. Rust blued with strawed small parts, and uniformly checkered walnut grips. Tinned mag. with walnut plug marked with ordnance bomb. MAGS: 1 8-rd. CONDITION: very good, with sharp edge wear and toning of front/backstrap, as one might expect from a pistol that has seen moderate use. All the strawed parts have been freshened. Dark grips with sharp checkering and only a few scattered impressions, largely on the right panel. Dull bore, with easily discernible rifling. A very attractive U.S. military 1900 test Luger, one of the first, whose appearance could be easily enhanced by the proper restoration of the small parts. PROVENANCE: The Collection of Edward Scott Meadows. (24-726/LMA). CURIO. $4,500-6,500.
