SCARCE CARPENTER ENGINE HOUSE. Ca. 1882. This wonderful wood, cast iron, and canvas house is referred to in Carpenter's catalog as number 58. This version has a striped cotton cloth roof. Wood sides enhanced by cast iron windows and two front cast iron doors, hinged and ready to open. This is all surmounted by an elaborate bell tower with brass bell with partial original pull string. Accompanied by old box label mounted to piece of cardboard. SIZE: 26-1/2" l. x 18" h. x 10" w. CONDITION: Canvas top exhibits some distress, cast iron doors appear to be of slightly different shades of red, but believed to be correct and assembled this way at the factory.
