SAMANID: Nuh III (976-997), AR heavy Dirham (3.49g), Bukhara, AH 374. Citing official Sa'ad, "'adl" (Justice) upper field, reverse citing Abbasid caliph Al-Ta'i' and ruler with his title "al-malik al-mansur" (the victorious king), "hasbi Allah" (Allah is sufficient to me) below. A-1470. Minted on a very large flan. Lovely example, choice about uncirculated. Unrecorded and of the highest rarity.

The mint name could be another unpublished mint, since the last two letters are clearly connected, unlike other examples of this coin. There are two specimens found online on Bukhara AH 374, one in Zeno and one currently offered by Tim Wilkes for around $110. Both are in lower or weaker conditions, and both do not include the phrase "hasbi Allah" in the lower reverse field. This example is possibly the only known piece carrying this phrase. It is also clearly far superior in condition to any other dirham of this mint/date combination.
