<b>1392. (SAM SHEPPARD) </b>American neurosurgeon convicted in the 1954 murder of his wife despite his continual denial of any culpability. With the help of F. Lee Bailey, Sheppard was acquitted twelve years later, despite the public's belief that he remained guilty. Sheppard's case was the inspiration for the television series and film "The Fugitive". Outstanding association D.S. signed by two victims of the notorious case, a check made out to and endorsed on verso by <b>MARILYN REESE SHEPARD</b>, wife of Dr. Shepard, Cleveland, Apr. 6, 1951 paying Marilyn $100.00 and signed by her father, <b>THOMAS S. REESE</b>. Endorsed by Sheppard as "<i>Marilyn R. Sheppard (Mrs. Sam H.)</i>". Marilyn was, of course, murdered, and Thomas Reese was a shotgun suicide following the murder of his daughter. All of the signatures are bold, punch cancel minimally affects Mrs. Sheppard's, otherwise fine condition.<b> $150-200</b>
