SAM SHEPPARD RARE D.S.
1483. SAM SHEPPARD American neurosurgeon convicted in the 1954 murder of his wife despite his continual denial of any culpability. With the help of F. Lee Bailey, Sheppard was acquitted twelve years later, despite the public's belief that he remained guilty. Sheppard's case was the inspiration for the television series and film "The Fugitive". Rare D.S. signed by the three main parties of the Sheppard murder case, SAM SHEPARD, his wife and alleged victim MARILYN SHEPARD (who signs her name and adds "Mrs. Sam H."), and her father THOMAS S. REESE who ultimately committed suicide following his daughter's murder! The document is a check signed by Reese, Cleveland, July 3, 1947 making a $100.00 payment to his daughter Marilyn, and is endorsed on the verso by Marilyn Shepard and Sam Shepard. Punch cancellations clear of signatures, near fine. A rare combination of signatures!$300-400
