SALESMAN SAMPLE WASHING MACHINE WITH ORIGINAL CARRYING CASE.
Exceptional early washing machine consisting of a large cubicle copper tub set into a hardwood frame and topped with lovely brass hardware. Its locking hinged top lifts to reveal an inverted copper cone agitator. The machine is activated by a wooden hand lever that works an elaborate treadle type mechanism with offset wheel that raises and lowers the agitator while rotating it a quarter turn. Accompanied by a photocopy of a Collector's Journal article from July, 2002 identifying it as being by the Rullman Mfg. Co of St. Joseph, Missouri. Further accompanied by its original leather cupboard and velvet lined, fitted carrying case with metal corners. SIZE: 9-3/4" w x 9-3/4" d x 15" h. CONDITION: Near excellent with great patina to both the wood and brass parts. Has smooth operation of gears and components. Perhaps a couple replaced nuts on the legs and the wooden shaft insert to operate the lever is broken but both pieces are present. One skirt piece is loose. Case is very good overall. 1-12621
