SALESMAN SAMPLE WALTER WOOD SELF RAKE REAPER.
What can one say about this piece that conveys its importance? This is one of the finest, most elaborate, best condition salesman samples this company has ever had the pleasure of offering. This spectacular piece is painted in old red with white and black pinstripes and brass hardware. Its delicate construction centers on a wide trapezoidal bed stenciled "Walter A. Wood Self Rake Reaper, Hoosick Falls, N.Y." across it. When rolled along the floor the elaborate gear mechanism to the left of the platform connects to a chain driven, forked, jointed "arm" that sweeps around, grabbing the recently cut hay from the brass sickle bar which is fluffed and churned from the four part paddle to a wagon that would follow alongside. Perched above is a perforated brass saddle seat that is within reach of a hand lever that adjusts the pitch of the mower and a foot pedal that appears to put the machine in and out of gear. Accompanied by a lithographed trade card for a similar Walter Wood Reaping Machine in an agricultural setting. SIZE: 18-1/2" w x 17" d x 10" h. CONDITION: Near excellent. 1-12753
