Dublin : Printed for John Smith, at the Philosophers Heads on the Blind-Quay [1752]FIRST IRISH EDITION(?), pages (8), 119, 144 - 268 : (4), 224, complete thus, 2 vols bound in 1, large 12mo, contemporary calf, with label, gilt : a fine, attractive copy. With a collective half-title on the verso of the first leaf of vol.1: ’Letters on the study and use of history. To which are added, two other letters, and reflections upon exile, by the same hand. In two volumes’. Joint first Dublin edition : there was another published in 1752 by a conger of the Dublin trade - the original had been published at London during the same year.ALSO WITH THIS LOT: (1) [COX ( Sir Richard )].
