The following twelve (12) revolvers were specially manufactured by Smith & Wesson in 1990 for the Ellett Brothers of Chapin, South Carolina. They were sold by subscription with a different gun offered each month. Each themed gun was based on an early S&W advertising painting and delivered with a special book featuring calendar artwork. Five hundred (500) sets were originally intended to be produced, but due to a parting of ways, far less were manufactured. Each revolver is laser etched with a design representing one of the original illustrations, this being set number 168. Facsimiles of the blueprints for the revolvers' designs are included. Smith & Wesson Model 29-5 Double Action Revolver, #BEH8061, .44 mag. cal., 8-3/8'' barrel, blue finish, factory checkered target grips, with red ramp front sight and white outline rear sight. Right side of barrel is etched ''Hostiles'', with laser etched facsimile of the 1902 painting by the same name that was used in poster form to advertise S&Ws. Sideplate is additionally marked ''168 of 500''. Condition is excellent with only a very light trace of index mark to cylinder. In original two-piece metal-cornered S&W box with instructions and cleaning accessories. January edition. With book remaining in excellent condition with some oil standing to back side. Est.: $600-$800. (Modern) (Buyer of this lot has the option to purchase the following 11 guns at the same price.)
