S.F. Cody Famous War Kite Chromolithograph Poster
Offered for your bidding pleasure is this S.F. Cody Famous War Kite Chromolithograph Poster. Franklin Samuel Cowdery (1867-1913), who adopted the name Samuel Franklin Cody, was born in Davenport, Iowa, on March 6, 1867. American showman, aviator, and inventor. Cody claimed that he spent his early years living life as a cowboy, training horses, and hunting for buffalo, although, his early life is difficult to separate from his own stories told later in life. This excellent chromolithograph shows a handsome life-size bust image of Cody dressed in a crisp, white military uniform. Cody gazes off to the viewer’s right with his shoulder length hair flowing from beneath his hat. Below his bust is an image of his war kite resting on a plinth, which reads "S. F. Cody. F.R.M.S Of Texas U.S.A. Inventor of the Famous War Kite". Cody is to England what the Wright brothers are to the United States. This extraordinary poster shows excellent condition. The visible art measuring 29 1/4" tall by 19" wide. The frame measures 39 3/4" by 29" wide.
