This is an excellent pair of S.C. Gallup Saddlery Pueblo, Colorado leather chaps from circa 1870-1890’s. The chaps are marked, “S.C. GALLUP SADL Co. PUEBLO.” The chaps show five silver nickel conchos and exposed stitching tooled pockets on each leg with the top belt area having graduated silver nickel conchos. The chaps are made by Samuel Caldwell (SC) Gallup, younger brother to Francis Gallup of Gallatin & Gallup Saddlery Denver. Samuel opened his saddlery in Pueblo, Co in 1869 with R.T. Frazier joining the firm in 1880. R.T. Frazier alter formed a partnership with Gallup that lasted from 1892-1898. S.C. Gallup is considered the originator of the Pueblo Style saddle and one of the finest Colorado saddle makers known. Samuel Gallup died in 1904. These are an exceedingly rare set of chaps show well preserved good condition for their age. Chaps measures overall “W x “L. Belt area is “L. Exceptional scarce chaps.
