Oulahan of the <I>New York Sun,</B></I> thanking him for "<I>...the copies of the Daily and Sunday Sun from June 1st to September 7th, inclusive, containing full reports of the Peace Conference, held at Portsmouth, N.H., which, in compliance with the request I made to you on behalf of the Library of the Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan, my alma Mater... the papers will be bound and placed in the Library, where they will be highly prized as an invaluable record of the historic event, which you, as a special correspondent of one of the greatest papers of the age, have witnessed at a close range.</B></I>" The treaty ending the Russo-Japanese War was facilitated at a conference hosted by President Theodore Roosevelt at Portsmouth, Hampshire.
