Anglo-Austrian soldier, explorer, and administrator in the Sudan (1857–1932). Four ALSs in German, signed “R. Slatin,” totaling seven pages, 8.75 x 10.5, personal letterhead, dated throughout 1930. Letters to a “dear doctor and friend.” One, in part (translated): “I should like to see you and your dear wife again before my departure.” Another, in part (translated): "I took Ann Marie from Fetan, where she spent the summer, back to St. Blasien. She has not had the care she needs, but looks well altogether and is happy, though I am not.” In overall fine condition.
