Royal Telegraph Matches, uniface note, Rare.
A large uniface note, 78 x 198 mm. Above, "Royal Telegraph Matches"; below, "Manufactured by Rousseau & Trottier". There is a central vignette of the Royal Arms, with a Lion to left and a Unicorn to right. There is a woman's portrait on the lower left and a man's on the lower right, possibly Royal family or the Governor - General and wife. Black on green undertype. The note is denominated as 50 Piastres, although it is possible that the word "Piastres" has been added by hand. In fact, the whole note has a kind of hand - engraved appearance, through it is in fact printed. We can find no references to this note, nor to either "Royal Telegraph Matches" or "Rousseau & Trottier". This is surely a rare item, and possibly unique.
