Inspired by Kenneth Grahame's 1908 children's novel 'The Wind in the Willows.' This hand-painted ceramic figure depicts Mr. Badger in a blue coat and striped trousers sternly addressing Mr. Toad, who is seated in a red armchair with visible tears on his cheek. The scene includes a detailed backdrop of a bookcase filled with colorful books, topped with a yellow bowl, dogs, and additional objects, as well as stacks of books at the figures' feet and a globe behind the chair. The underside bears the Royal Doulton backstamp along with "Design Original Sample" and the title "Scolding Toad."
