This Royal Doulton prototype character jug portrays George Stephenson, the inventor of the Rocket steam locomotive and the father of the Railway Age. Designed by William K. Harper, the jug captures Stephenson's likeness with intricate detailing, showcasing his iconic beard and focused expression. The handle topper, made from pottery, is cleverly designed to resemble a train, symbolizing his revolutionary contributions to rail travel. Notably, the production pieces of this jug feature a metal train handle, making this prototype much rarer.
