Royal Albert was originally founded as T.C. Wild & Sons in the 19th century. It prospered quickly, and in 1896 it took over a factory known as the Albert China Works. The "Albert" for which this company was named was named would later become King George VI, father of the current Queen Elizabeth II. Today, Royal Albert, Ltd. is part of the Royal Doulton Group.
The Tenderness pattern is typical of the types of patterns for which Royal Albert became famous: brightly colored florals in all-over prints. This particular pattern is particularly sweet, with its small random clusters of pink roses, green leaves, and blue and yellow accents.
This coffee set consists of a large coffee pot, a large cream jug, and a large sugar bowl. The coffee pot measures nine inches high and nine and a half inches from handle to spout. The sugar bowl measures four and a half inches long, and three inches high. The cream jug measures five inches long and three inches high. All pieces are in excellent undamaged condition.
