Roy Weatherby Shipped West German Weatherby Custom Mark V Bolt Action Rifle with Scope, Factory Letter and Case Presented to Bourke B. Hickenlooper U.S. Senator

Manufactured between 1959 and 1973. This rifle has the standard markings and features. It has a Weatherby 2 3/4-10x scope mounted to the receiver with Buehler scope bases and rings. Mounted on a nicely figured, multi-point, skip-line checkered walnut pistol grip stock with contrasting forend tip, contrasting grip cap with diamond inlay, raised cheekpiece and factory recoil pad along with a brass oval plaque on the right side of the buttstock inscribed "Presented To/Senator Bourke B. Hickenlooper/With Affection And Appreciation/By His Fellow Members In The/National Rifle Association/Of America". Mr. Hickenlooper had a long political career starting in the Iowa House of Representatives from 1934 to 1937, Lieutenant Governor of Iowa between January 12, 1939 and January 14, 1943, Governor of Iowa from January 14, 1943 to January 11, 1945 and finally a U.S. Senator between January 3, 1945 and January 3, 1969. Comes with a leather sling, a tan Weatherby hardcase with brass plaque inscribed "Senator/Bourke B. Hickenlooper" and factory letter dated June 1st, 2011 verifying the configuration, scope and case, and that it was delivered to Roy E. Weatherby at Hotel NRA Show in Boston on April 3rd, 1968.

Excellent, 98% of the original blue finish remains with some small spots of cleaned oxidation and minor pitting 6 inches from the muzzle of the barrel. The stock is also excellent with some scattered dings and scratches. Mechanically fine. The scope is excellent as well with clear optics. The case is very good with two broken feet and scattered scuffs.
