Once America's most infamous escape artist (1884–1940), he was the most celebrated outlaw and escaped convict of his day. Boldly-penned ALS, one page, 6 x 9.5, Hotel Auburn letterhead, no date. Letter to Mrs. Homan. In full: “Please send my notes and my black lose-leaf [sic] notebook to me at the Hotel Governor in S. F.” In very good condition, with staple holes to top edge, light toning, a bit heavier at top, a few small edge tears and creases, and a few spots.
