Industrialist, automaker, and commerce secretary (1880–1936) who headed the group that founded the Hudson Motor Car Company. TLS, one page, 8.25 x 11, Hudson Motor Car Company letterhead, December 19, 1919. Chapin writes to Mr. W. M. Hart of Chicago in post-World War I America. In full: “There is nothing in the steel situation that I can discover that looks more serious than it has for some time. We have heard no discussion here of any rationing proposition. If I get any further news, will write you.” Intersecting folds, one passing through his middle initial, light wrinkling, light uniform toning, and an office pencil notation through the address, otherwise fine condition.
