Decorative ceramic plate by Jerry Rosse, a celebrated mid-century studio potter known for his imaginative designs and vibrant glazes. This hand-painted plate features bold, abstract brushstrokes in deep burgundy and black on a soft cream-colored ground. Signed on the reverse Rosse of Greenwich Village, NYC, this piece reflects Rosse’s commitment to artistic independence and originality. Crafted in his basement studio in New York, Rosse used custom-formulated glazes and molds of his own creation to ensure every piece carried his unique touch. His works were sold exclusively through his personal gallery and regularly exhibited at the Greenwich Village Outdoor Show during the 1940s and 1950s. A striking example of functional mid-century studio art.
