This earthenware planter is a product of the Roseville Pottery Company, featuring the Magnolia pattern introduced circa 1943. The rectangular vessel is constructed with two angular handles and displays low-relief molded decoration of magnolia blossoms and budding branches against a textured, mottled background. The piece is finished in a matte glaze that transitions from a dark earthen brown at the base to moss green and ocher tones toward the rim. The floral elements are rendered in cream and pale pink. The base is embossed with the marks Roseville, U.S.A., and the shape number 568-6.
