This ravishing Roseville Pottery vase features the iconic Aztec pattern, designed by Frederick Hurten Rhead around 1904-1906 during his tenure as art director at Roseville. The tall cylindrical form is finished in a rich matte blue glaze, accented with stylized white and green Art Nouveau floral motifs in low relief. The delicate balance of bold color and fluid line exemplifies Rhead's influence, blending Arts and Crafts principles with early 20th-century modernist design. The underside is unmarked, as is typical of many early Roseville examples.
