Roseville Atlantic Street Shooting, June 30, 1925
3 Real Photo Cards of the, Atlantic Street Shoot Out, June30, 1925.NOTES-Midnight, June30,1925, R. Lera & his Bro. Andrew were getting ready to close the Old Depot Station, as the Lera brothers were counting out their money, 3 young strangers went into the empty Saloon. Before the brothers new what was happening the strangers were pointing revolvers in their faces. One of the robbers was a drifter named Duarti, the second, Jesus Berrone, but the third suspect was never I/d. Mean while outside in the dark was Roseville's night time Police Constable, Fred Farnham. The robbers came out with their gun's drawn, 20 shots would be exchanged between Farnham and the Gangsters, aroused by the noise the Lera brothers joined in the fight. Seems Farnham sent a bullet thru Duarti's head, then Farnham sent 3 rounds into Berrone, who fell, the third "bandit" escaped into the night. Today the Roseville Police Dept. knows that this Atlantic Street gun fight, as its first documented case of an "officer involved shooting".
