<td width="100%">
Fabulous Rose Medallion service platter with original strainer. This matching set is a second period Rose Medallion service that dates to circa 1870. The set is in perfect condition with no rim chips to the outer edges of the platter or strainer. There are minor chips on the platter where the strainer rests on the platter itself. They are not visible with the strainer in place.The birds and peoni are correct and the orange in the floor is the appropriate color the the period. Early 20th century platters do not have these colors or detail in the flowers and birds. The weight is also correct for the period. There is no gold in the hair which is indicative of the later period Rose Medallion pieces exported to the United States. The bottom has wonderful oatmeal color and texture. Finding a "true" matching set is a real challenge. This peice measures 16 1/2" long by 13 3/4" wide so it is of substantial size and weight. The service area measures 12" by 9 1/2".
