<B>Rose Cleveland Autograph Manuscript Signed</B></I> "<I>Rose Elizabeth Cleveland</B></I>". 5.5" x 9", 22 pages. Cleveland's first "First Lady". Prior to his marriage to Frances, Cleveland's younger sister Rose resided at the White House and filled the social role of First Lady. She was a serious academic who authored books on George Eliot's poetry, American social and moral fabric, and the Soliloquies of St. Augustine. Offered here is a presumably unpublished 22-page manuscript in her hand, with a complete typed transcript. Titled: <I>John's John,</B></I> it deals with the difficulty of seeing ourselves as others see us. Undated and signed at the conclusion. Documented Charles Hamilton provenance from 1956.
