Rose Carved Capitals, a pair of 18th C. American architectural elements surviving from a CT house. Connecticut Rose vernacular carved pair of fabulous wood plinths that capped the Colonial house's front corner posts. 9 inches H x 7.5 W. Many original 18th C. T-head nails remain under the old crackled white paint. Weathering along the grain of the pine enhances the undulating symmetry and lively texture of the beautiful roses. One has a glued grain split but both are in excellent condition, original-as-rescued when the house was taken down. For lovers of Colonial New England design, this is an exciting find that may be used in many different ways: place on your corner cupboard, interior doorway, wall sculpture, even use as bookends.
