<B>Roscoe Turner Typed Letter and Photograph Signed to pioneer pilot Ephraim W. “Pop” Cleveland.</B></I> Comprises: <B>1) Photograph inscribed</B></I> “<I>To our old/ Pal 'Pop' Cleveland/ from/Roscoe/ &/ Gilmore/ 'The Flying Lion'/ 1932.</B></I>” Turner had convinced the Gilmore Oil Company to sponsor him and acquired a lion (Gilmore's logo) who accompanied him on his flights, including two transcontinental speed records in 1930. Adequate contrast. Minor surface dents, small abrasion at lower blank margin. <B>2) Typed Letter Signed</B></I> “<I>Roscoe,</B></I>” one page, 8.5” x 11”. Indianapolis, Indiana, August 14, 1951. In part “<I>You're the greatest guy in aviation in my book…Pop, I just hope you live to fly another forty years…</B></I>” Less than a year later, on August 6, 1952, 63-year-old Pop Cleveland and his wife were killed when the Beech Bonanza he was piloting struck the base of Mt.
