Vintage red-and-yellow 8.25 x 13 concert poster for the "Grand Opening of the Cassanova Rock 'n' Swing Club at Samson and Barlow's Fabulous New Ballroom" on London Road in Liverpool, on February 9, 1961. The musical acts include: The Fabulous Cassanovas, The Remo Quartet, Tommy and the Metronomes, Rory Storm and the Hurricanes, and Benny and the Blackcats. In fine condition, with a couple of small areas of surface loss and old mounting traces on the reverse. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Tracks. Ringo Starr played drums for Rory Storm and The Hurricanes before leaving the band in mid-August of 1962 and replacing Pete Best as the Beatles' full-time drummer. Interestingly, the Beatles made their debut performance at the Cavern Club on the same date as this concert. Consignor notes that this poster originates from the collection of Johnny Byrne, the guitarist for Rory Storm and the Hurricanes.
