DS, eight pages, 8.5 x 1, November 22, 1954. Document headed “Minutes of Special Membership Meeting of the Motion Picture Industry Council,” mentioning Reagan several times. In part: “Ronald Reagan reviewed the past history of the MPIC, the grand job it had done and was still in a position to do providing it were adequately financed. He referred to the organization of the MPIC with: ‘This organization was formed in self-defense…Maybe one of the things we suffer from now is the spell of peace. To think of the organization going out of business because right now there isn’t enough support or interest…is like dismissing the army and navy because there is no war on.’” Signed at the conclusion in fountain pen by Ronald Reagan as secretary and countersigned by Lou Greenspan as executive secretary. In fine condition, with expected document wear. A wonderful, early Reagan example that demonstrates both his charisma and leadership abilities.
