Rome, c. 100 A. D. a dark brown clay discus lamp with voluted nozzle. The discus design features a youth astride a large fish. The tail and gills of the fish are exaggerated with neat trailing lines. The youth, perhaps meant to represent Taras, wears a halo-like apparatus around his head. Nicely detailed, intact and perfect. See Walters, BMC on Ancient Lamps, No. 788 for similar shape. L : 11 cm. On custom stand. $500
