On sale is a very rare "Roman Oil Lamp" circa 100A.D. to 300 A.D. This clay mold lamp features a fill hole and nozzle or "rostum" with remnants of carbon deposit. The outer discus portion of the lamp is adorned with stylistic flower circles woven into a tailed wreath. At the center is Mars, the Roman god of war, wearing a crested helmet and chest armor. On the reverse is the letter "Y", with the artisan's name and the roman numerals of "MII". This quality specimen in excellent condition.
