On sale is a very rare "Roman Glass Unguentarium" circa 100A.D. to 300A.D. Featured is a unique glassware container that was used for oils, perfumes or various unguents. Created from a core formed technique this rare conical shaped piece has a very thick concave base. This glass vessel was apparently fired twice and its opening was finished with a lipped rim. It has a slight earthen surface patina permeated with an unusual iridescence to the outer and uncovered under laid area! This Roman glass has a slight chip that only adds beauty and value to this piece.
