The temple of Jupiter Optimus Maximus: Hexastyle temple within which, statue of Jupiter seated facing flanked by statues of Juno and Minerva standing facing; on either side of the temple, a statue. The pediment is decorated with statues of the Capitoline Triad and other figures; roof surmounted by quadriga on top, and eagles on either side. In exergue, S C. C 492. BMC 721. RIC 886. CBN 751. Very rare and an extremely interesting type. Green patina with some areas of porosity and smoothing, otherwise about extremely fine Ex NAC 40, 2007, 683 and NAC 51, 2009, 226 sales.
