<B>Roman Bronze Works Lincoln Bust by Adolph Weinman.</B></I> German-born Adolph Weinman was a prolific designer of civic sculpture. As a protege of Augustus Saint-Gaudens, he also provided designs for two of the most beautiful and highly-collected American coins, the Walking Liberty half dollar and the Mercury dime. He worked largely in the classical style, and this beautiful Lincoln sculpture is no exception. The dark bronze bust is mounted to a base of green marble. "A.A. Weinman Fecit" (Latin for "Made by A.A. Weinman") is etched into the .25" facing on the left of the bust, and "Roman Bronze Works N.Y." is etched into the .25" facing on the back. The green marble stand measures approximately 4.5" at the base x 5.25" tall. The bust measures 5.25" at its widest point x 10.75" tall. A 1981 auction sticker from Christie's is affixed to the back of the marble base.
