On sale is a very rare "Roman Bronze Apollo Votive" circa 100B.C. to 100 A.D. Featured is a Roman bronze votive of the god Apollo wearing a diadem, holding a lyre in one hand and a slain python with the other. As one of the solar deities he was associated with the protection of crops, healing, songs and the lyre. In Greek as well as Roman mythology Apollo slew the python snake at Delphi and took over the oracle becoming the vanquisher of unconscious terrors. This lovely bronze figurine is in good condition with a green to brown patina.
