Extremely rare cover proof of the Stones banned cover art for Beggars Banquet. Proof measures 26.25 x 14 and shows a graffiti-covered lavatory wall, with the band and album names printed down the center. In fine condition, with some light toning and foxing to edges, as well as several crop marks and notations to the edges. The cover was originally done by Tom Wilkes, Michael Vosse and Barry Feinstein, along with Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, who did the graffiti on the back. The band loved it, but Decca in London and its United States subsidiary, London Records, rejected the design. After months of arguing, the Stones gave in and went with the simple ‘white invitation cover’ and the album was released in December of 1968. This London Records cover proof hung in a London executive's office for years and was acquired directly from him in 1997. An incredibly rare find, this particular cover proof has been know to sell for $8,000–10,000.
