This is a beautiful Sterling Silver 42 Piece Flatware set by Rogers, Lunt, and Bowlen with Carolina design monogram "N" patented in 1913. RLB changed its name to Lunt in 1935. Unusual assortment: 18 dinner forks (7.125"), 6 teaspoons (5.75"), 9 dinner knives (9.25"), 6 butter knives (8.5"), and 3 serving spoons (8.25"). One serving spoon has a different make, J.S. Co., but has the exact same monogram and the design is similar. If you take the weight of the knives at half silver, this set has over 1600 grams of silver in it. Comes with box (scratched lid and slightly mildewed on the underside) by Naken (patented 1933) that features a tarnish resistant lining that has kept this set in rather good condition. I think the box is a later addition because the patent emphasizes the knife holder which has 12 slots: if this set came with the box, there should only be 12 knives and there are 15. Shipping will be by UPS Ground unless speedier delivery requested (additional charge) to the lower 48 states.
