Pay order issued to Connecticut Treasurer John Lawrence, directing him to pay "Mr. Dan Johnson four pounds out of any monies appropriated for the support of civil government, on account of what is due to me on an order from the general Assembly dated in October 1784 for revising the Laws." Signed below by Roger Sherman. Archivally mounted, matted, and framed to an overall size of 15 x 12. In fine condition. In 1784, Sherman was elected as mayor of New Haven (an office he held until his death) and he served as delegate to the Continental Congress from Connecticut.
