Roger Clarke Hand-Colored Ink Print, The Burslem Decorating Shop
A fine line ink print by British artist Roger Clarke, individually hand-colored to highlight the intricate details of this historical pottery scene, dated 2007. Titled "The Burslem Decorating Shop at Work, c.1902," the image depicts Edwardian workers at a Burslem factory decorating earthenware mugs commissioned for the coronation of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra. Originally drawn by Clarke and reproduced as a printed edition, each impression was hand-colored by the artist, with paint occasionally extending beyond the image and onto the mat, a signature artistic touch. The print is hand-signed and titled in pencil below the image. A descriptive note by the artist is mounted to the reverse. Framed under glass in a warm wood frame.
