Rockdale Gold Mining Company, incorporated in New York, but had mining operation in Central City Colorado. Central City is located in Gilpin County, and is where John Gregory discovered gold in 1859. The town earned the nickname the “richest square mile on earth” as a result of the rich gold field discovered there. Certificate No. 30 was issued on 17 November 1865 to Stebbins and Bloodgood for 20 shares, $100 per. Signed by J. R. Taylor, secretary, and [H. S. Pierson], president. Hand cancelled. Vignettes: top center of three miners working placer and dredge operation in a stream; cross sectional view mine shaft with underground and above ground miners at left edge; and, a small vignette of a hound at lower edge. Measures 11" x 6.5". Printer: B. F. Corlies & Macy, NY. Bears one, 25 cent, brown, R44, R4, hand cancelled, adhesive, perf., U. S. Internal Revenue Certificate stamp on front right.
