Lot of 4 includes: 1) First Two-Story Building, Rochester. Photo copyrighted in 1913 by Wm. E. Moore, Winnemucca, Nev. The photo shows a small group of men standing outside the St. Francis Hotel, which has a wooden bottom half and canvas top half, with a new two-story wooden addition to the hotel in the process of being built on the back of the building. There is snow on the ground and on the hillside beyond. 2) First Wooden House—Rochester, Nev. Photo by Jackoes-S.F. Shows what looks to be a “main street” with 3 men standing outside a wooden cabin. Immediately next to it is another building signed “Kitchen” and attached to that is the Hotel & Bar, Frank P. Carr (Prop.) All face directly on a dirt street. Note on the reverse indicates that the wooden house was brought over from (Illegible) on a hay rack. 3) First Ball Given by Rochester Commercial (sic) Club. No date. Shows a low-ceilinged wooden building with wooden dance floor and a large group of people in fancy dress seated and standing in the hall. 4) Street Scene, Rochester, Nev. Visible businesses along the dirt street are: Rochester Club Café, Real Estate Brokers, the Bank Bar, and the Montana Saloon. In the street are groups of men, a “Tin Lizzie,” and a covered delivery wagon with two-mule harness. On the reverse is stamped: Miller Photo Company, Commercial Photographers, Klamath Falls, Oregon. A great set.
