Rochester covers the area of Rochester Heights, Upper Rochester, and Lower Rochester along Rochester Canyon. Gold was first discovered in the 1860s, but it was not until Joseph Nenzel discovered silver ore in 1912 that Rochester became a true boomtown. The town wound down around 1922, and by 1926 even the post office had closed. The overall condition of documents is good to excellent. - HKA#65919
