Robert Wesley Amick (1879-1969) "Wild Steer and Cowboy", 28" x 42" Oil on Canvas. Signed lower right. Painted circa 1920s. Amick was born in Cannon City, Colorado amidst the cowboys, Indians and ranchers. He graduated from Yale with a law degree and studied art. He practiced law for a few years then dedicated his life to painting the American West. He worked as an illustrator for Scribners Magazine, The American Magazine and Harpers. He was commissioned by the Santa Fe Railroad to paint Western subject matter for their advertising posters. His works are in most important western collections and museums around the country.
