<B>Declaration Signer Robert Treat Paine Signed Book: <I>Address and Recommendations to the States</B></I></B></I> <I>by The United States in Congress Assembled.</B></I> (Boston: Honorable House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, 1783), first Boston printing- same year as first printing in Philadelphia, 62 pages, paper wraps, stitched, 12mo (7.75" x 5.25"), signed by Paine on the upper right of the front wrap. This important report deals with raising revenue and other issues facing the new nation. Also bound in are various papers relating to Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, and George Washington, as well as other congressional resolutions. Paine was a signer of the Declaration of Independence and a member of the Continental Congress from 1774-1778 as a representative of Massachusetts. Good condition, printed on the rough handmade paper of the day, edges rough, small paper loss on front wrap. A very rare early American imprint. From the Henry E. Luhrs Collection.
