<B>Robert Southey: </B></I><B><I>The Life of Nelson</B></I></B></I> (London: John Murray, 1813), in two volumes, 254 and 275 pages, respectively, mixed issue (volume I, though dated 1813, is a somewhat later issue; volume II is a first edition), half-leather binding with marbled boards, 16mo (4” x 6.75”). Front blank page of both volumes signed, <I>“T. F. Wells”</B></I>. English romantic poet Robert Southey (1774-1843) wrote this historic first biography of English Naval hero Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805), who was killed at the Battle of Trafalgar, during which Britain won a decisive victory over the forces of Napoleon Bonaparte. Both volumes are in good condition, with some acidification on the title pages.
