This signed posters announces the show of Rauschenberg's ROCI project at the exhibition center of the GDR – a special testimony from the early days of the German reunification that fetches up to 3,500 euro at the auction market

This is a poster for the exhibition of Robert Rauschenberg 1990 in Berlin at the the centre of art exhibitions of the GDR. Rauschenberg launched his art tour ROCI (Rauschenberg Overseas Culture Interchange) in 1984. The project encompassed a ten-year and ten-country tour, where the artist created by the local cultures inspired works to promote world peace and understanding. The present poster depicts the telecommunications tower in Berlin opposite a cradle of paint. The poster announces the event that took place in Berlin from 10.03.-01.04.1990 at the Neue Berliner Galerie at the Alte Museum.



The poster bears the dedication and complimentary signature below in felt-tip pen ‘For Arndt – Rauschenberg’. Slight handling creases, kinked corners and pinholes in the corners are visible. The dimensions of the full sheet image are 96.3 x 63 cm.



Robert Rauschenberg (1925-2008)

Robert Rauschenberg was an American painter and graphic artist, whose early works are part of the pop-art movement. He is known for his ‘Combines’ artworks that he made during the fifties. In this artform he united non-traditional materials with objects to innovative combinations. Rauschenberg was both, painter and sculptor and his ‘combines’ united the two forms of art. He received the National Medal of Arts in 1993. And in 1995, he was awarded the Leonardo da Vinci World Award of Arts. Until his death in 2008, he had lived in New York City and Florida. (tm)
