Revolutionary War-dated handwritten endorsement, signed "R. R. Livingston," penned at the bottom of a petition from Jane Cuyler, one page, 7 x 9.5, March 31, 1783. Livingston's endorsement reads: "I certify that Mrs. Cuyler was a long time an inhabitant of New York that her late husband's family possessed a considerable property there." The Cuyler petition is addressed to the "Supreme Executive Council of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania," and states that she "was formerly an Inhabitant of New York from whence she went to Charles Town on the Enemies taking Possession of that Place your Petitioner was obliged to leave it with a Family of four Children…Your Petitioner has some Property in New York where she wishes to go, & for which purpose she begs your Permission." In fine condition. Accompanied by a complete typescript from the Lincoln Library in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania.
