ALS from Robert Plant, signed “Good vibes, Robert, Maureen, Carmen, & Logan,” one page, 8.25 x 11.75, gorgeous 'swan with sirens' letterhead, no date, between 1979 and 1982. Written from Plant’s Jennings Farm home in Blakeshall, a letter to Stan Urban, a resident musician at a club called La Reja in Ibiza, Spain. In full: “Trusting you’re all fine etc. Well I’ve done it; transferred some reggae from tape to tape. Unfortunately the quality is not very good but the original has travelled miles & miles with me on tour and is more or less knackered. There is some nice stuff on it & some more conventional ‘pop’ by Toots & the Maytells which I like a lot. Originally I had two tapes, the one you have here, and another. The other was far more ‘DUB’ than this one. It looks as if I left in America—you know 'Gotta to be out of the hotel in 3 minutes'—Anyway I’m hunting for some other stuff & will record it in time! Alas we can’t make Ibiza as we hoped Maureen has to go back in hospital to have some of her metal removed from her leg in a weeks time—and will be in hospital for a couple of weeks, so we shall have to see what happens afterwards. Keep in touch." In very good to fine condition, with splitting along two of the three horizontal mailing folds. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Tracks and by a letter of provenance from the original recipient: "Robert and I became friends in Ibiza during the late 70s–early 80s. We jammed together several times. Both of us loved reggae and he used to record tracks which he thought would interest me." Plant’s mention of Maureen (Wilson) having “metal removed from her leg” is undoubtedly related to the couple’s nearly fatal accident on the Greek island of Rhodes on August 4, 1975, when their car skidded off the road and collided with a tree in a ravine. Wilson suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash, including a broken leg and a fractured skull and pelvis. While Wilson remained in London to continue recovery, Plant wrote the song 'Tea for One,’ expressing his feelings for her while they were apart.
